Rita Wilson Releases New Single Ahead of New Album Sound of a Woman Out May 1

Multi-talented artist Rita Wilson has released her new single “Jury of One,” the latest off her forthcoming new album Sound of a Woman to be released on May 1st.

This heartfelt and relatable track acts as a love letter to women navigating the pressures of doing it all, and the guilt that often comes with it.

Sound of a Woman, Wilson’s most visionary and revealing work to date was co-produced by Rita and nine-time GRAMMY-winning producer, David Cobb (Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton) and recorded at the historic RCA Studio A in Nashville.

The album explores the arc of a woman’s life as part unfiltered memoir, part nuanced observation of the world around Rita. It moves beyond gender bounds and cuts to the raw truth of the human experience, while providing moments of catharsis, reflection, and unabashed joy along the way. A revelatory excavation of the self, Sound of a Woman bears a sonic depth that fully matches the scope of Wilson’s soul-baring songwriting.

“To this day, it’s so hard to devote my attention to something without feeling guilty about all the things I’m not doing,” says Wilson. “Especially if I’m giving my time to something creatively satisfying, I feel guilty about not taking care of a particular job or being there for someone who might need me. So many women tend to apologize when we haven’t done anything wrong, and I think that partly comes from feeling like we could always be doing more. I’ve gotten better at communicating my needs and protecting my time, but I still find myself apologizing for things I shouldn’t be sorry for. Apologizing can become habitual, and sometimes we do it to keep the peace, because it’s easier than standing up for something you believe in.”

Ahead of the release of the album, Wilson shared the title track and lead single “Sound of a Woman” and the empowering ballad “Michaelangelo.” You can catch Rita on tour across the U.S. starting June 2nd in Atlanta, Georgia, culminating in New York City on June 13th, and the European leg beginning in November.
