Fourteen-year-old, Nashville-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Iris Copperman released her emotionally raw but empathetic new single Bully through Interscope Records. The song draws from her personal experience with bullying and bravely meets cruelty with compassion.
Bully, centered on Copperman’s captivating vocals, arrives as an open-hearted reflection on cycles of harm. To create the gently powerful track, she co-wrote alongside Shane McAnally and Ross Copperman, tapping into the lyrical talents she’s cultivated since writing her first song at the age of five.
Revealing the extraordinary sensitivity of her songwriting, Bully opens on a cascade of urgent piano melodies while attempting to uncover the source of her subject’s callous behavior.
Last month, Copperman made her Interscope debut with Struggle Bus a pensive but potent track that journeys through a whirlwind of conflicting emotions and lands in a place of radical self-acceptance.
There’s more music on the way. Copperman learned to play guitar and piano as a little girl and soon after merged her musicality with her love of storytelling.
