Rhiannon Giddens has announced American Tunes: Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing, a special five-date amphitheatre run celebrating American roots music. The Pulitzer and Grammy-winning artist will be joined by Mavis Staples, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Hurray for the Riff Raff for a series of outdoor performances highlighting songs that connect generations.
The tour will take place between June 26 and Aug. 2 at outdoor venues across the country. Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time.
Giddens first conceived the project following her 2025 Juneteenth concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. That event, titled American Tunes, gathered a wide-ranging group of banjo players including Steve Martin, Ed Helms and members of Our Native Daughters—Giddens’ collaborative group with Amythyst Kiah, Allison Russell and Leyla McCalla. Variety later called it “the roots music event of the year.”
The upcoming run continues that spirit, exploring female and Black perspectives in folk and roots traditions while offering space to reflect on America’s approaching 250th anniversary. Each artist will perform individual sets, with special one-night-only collaborations planned throughout the tour.
Staples will not appear on the opening night in Seattle.
