Lisa Holt talked with Kittie at Aftershock Festival 2025 for an in-depth conversation about FIRE and their return to the stage
Lisa Holt of Women in the Pit 777 sat down with sisters Morgan and Mercedes Lander, Tara McLeod and Ivana “Ivy” Jenkins of legendary band Kittie at Aftershock Festival 2025 for an in-depth conversation that celebrates the band’s return to the spotlight and their lasting influence on women in metal.
The members open up about their powerful reunion, the creative process behind their latest releases, and what it means to continue breaking barriers in a genre they helped shape. From their early days redefining heavy music to their triumphant comeback on the festival stage, Kittie proves that raw power, authenticity, and sisterhood never fade.
The band just celebrated the 25th anniversary of their 1999 debut Spit with the Spit XXV EP, released September 19 via Sumerian.
Kittie formed in London, Ontario in 1996. Following member changes and years long hiatus, the band signed to a new record deal with Sumarian Records and released Fire last year, their first studio album in over a decade. Thanks to increasing Spotify numbers and an overwhelming demand from fans to release new music, Kittie returned to the stage in 2025.
